Meet Dr. Skender

Dr. Skender has been in private practice as a rheumatologist since 1990. He earned his medical degree at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. After his Internal Medicine residency at William Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak, he completed his Rheumatology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital.

Dr. Skender has served as the Chief of Rheumatology at William Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak since 2010. He is a former president of the Michigan Rheumatism Society and has been perennially honored as a Detroit Hour Magazine Top Doc in Rheumatology. Dr. Skender is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the William Beaumont Oakland University School of Medicine and has been active in teaching medical students and residents throughout his career.

Meet Dr. Altattan

Dr. Altattan is a dedicated and compassionate physician with a background in internal medicine and a specialization in rheumatology. Originally from West Bloomfield, MI, he obtained his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Wayne State University in 2010. He then pursued his medical degree at Ross Medical School, which he completed in 2015. Dr. Altattan further honed his skills through his internal medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital-Detroit, which he completed in 2018. Dr. Altattan’s interest in rheumatology was inspired by his encounters with patients suffering from rheumatic diseases. Throughout his training and practice, he realized the significant impact these conditions have on patients’ lives and the need for specialized care. Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals living with rheumatic diseases, he developed a deep empathy and a desire to make a difference in their lives. Driven by his passion for providing comprehensive care and improving the quality of life for patients, Dr. Altattan decided to pursue a career in rheumatology. He recognized the complexity of these conditions and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. By specializing in rheumatology, he aims to address the unique needs of patients with rheumatic diseases and to help them manage their symptoms, reduce pain, and improve their overall well-being. In 2023, Dr. Altattan completed his Rheumatology fellowship as chief Rheumatologist at the University of Toledo Medical Center, becoming double board certified. Dr. Altattan’s dedication to personal growth and development, along with his commitment to patient relationships, make him a compassionate and knowledgeable rheumatologist who strives to provide the best possible care for his patients. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Altattan enjoys traveling, reading, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He is fluent in both English and Arabic, and his close-knit community and family are important to him. Dr. Altattan currently resides in Canton, MI, with his wife, and two young children.
